Mission Statement

The RISD Guidance and Counseling Mission is to implement a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program to promote student success through a focus on academic acheivement, prevention and intervention activities, advocacy and social/emotional and career development to meet the needs of the students and community of RISD.

The comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program model is embedded into the RISD academic curriculum and covers these standards:

  • Self-knowledge and acceptance
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Responsible behavior
  • Conflict resolution
  • Decision making/problem solving
  • Motivation to achieve
  • Goal setting
  • Career planning

How Does a Student See the Counselor?

Students can see the counselor in any of the following ways:

  • Counselor Request
  • Self-referral
  • Parent referral
  • Administrative referral
  • Teacher or Staff referral
  • Referral by friend(s)

Schedule: Monday – Friday 
                  8:00am – 2:30pm
